CVBM Day with Affordable Housing Awareness Week
Thank you to all who volunteered for the New Kent build on Thursday, April 23 and Saturday, April 25, 2009, during Central Virginia Baptist Ministries Days!
CVBM had the unique opportunity to join Affordable Housing Awareness Week and Habitat for Humanity in a building project. We signed up 30 volunteers each day to work on the construction of two houses from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
Additionally, churches volunteered to provide lunches for the Habitat supervisors and volunteers.

***Statistics show that on any given day in the Richmond region, there are at least 1,150 sheltered and unsheltered men, women, and children experiencing homelessness. Over the course of one year, 4,600 – 6, 900 people experience a crisis that results in homelessness. We estimate that 500-800 of homeless individuals in a given year are children, and children who experience homelessness have an increased risk of experiencing homelessness as adults. (Statistics provided by Homeward, Dec. 2007 “Ten Year Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness in the Richmond Region”). With the current economy, these statistics will likely increase.
