The State Fair Ministry Team would like your help with this ministry project. There are several ways in which your church may help. (See the details below). A breakfast/worship and music rally will be offered on September 28 and October 5. Volunteers are needed throughout the week in various capacities.

Mission Opportunities at the State Fair
September 25-October 5, 2008
Hospitality bags- Gallon-sized freezer bags filled with toiletry items are needed. Suggested toiletry items include travel-sized bottles of shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, gum, soap, deodorant, band aids, washcloths, and hand sanitizers. These will be distributed to the State Fair employees prior to the opening of the State Fair. Bags should be delivered to by September 15 to any of these associational offices: Dover, Hermon, Middle District, or Richmond.
Ambassador Program- Volunteers are needed to answer questions and give directions at the fairgrounds. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, be able to stand, and be mobile for 4-hour shifts. Sometimes, volunteers are asked to carry materials weighing as much as 5 pounds to distribute to the public. (Note: The State Fair must have a list of volunteers by August 31). Orientation for this program will be held *September 12 (this is a change made by the State Fair) at 10:00 a.m. with lunch at 12:00 noon at Cool Springs Baptist Church. Brochures will be available from the State Fair shortly
*Ambassador Rewards:
At the 11-day State Fair, volunteer shifts are four (4) hours long. Volunteers are asked to work a minimum of three (3) days to qualify for a specially designed reward package:
SFVA Ambassador Volunteer Rewards are
- A personalized 11-day State Fair Ambassador badge
- A State Fair 11-day ticket for spouse or significant other.
- Two extra tickets for family and friends.
- An Ambassador meal ticket for each 4-hour shift worked.
- Preferred parking at each event.
- An invitation to a SFVA appreciation event.
Chaplaincy Booth- Clergy volunteers are needed to serve 4- hour shifts in the chaplaincy booth. Clergy volunteers provide encouragement and are available should a crisis occur. Clergy volunteers may give out their own business cards or cards provided by the State Fair Ministries Team. (NOTE: The State Fair must have a list of chaplains by August 31).
Breakfast Sponsors- The State Fair Ministries Team will provide a breakfast to State Fair employees during a worship rally on two consecutive Sundays, September 28 and October 5. Breakfast will consist of juice, coffee, pastries, and biscuits. Financial gifts toward the purchase of the breakfast items can be mailed to CVBM, P. O. Box 34241, Richmond, VA 23234.

From the North
Travel I-95 to Exit 84, take I-295 east to Exit 38-B, turn right and take Meadowbridge Road to Carolina Ave., turn left. Gate 7 followed by Gate 6 will be on your right.
From the South
Travel I-95 to Exit 82 (DO NOT take the Fairgounds Exit 76-A), at the end of the exit ramp turn right onto Chamberlayne Ave. (Rt. 301) turn left at the second traffic light onto Azalea Ave., keep straight at the next traffic light (2.5 miles prox.). Gate 7 followed by Gate 6 will be on your right.
From the East
Take I-64 west to Exit 195, turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto Laburnum Ave. The fair is approximately 5 miles and will be on your right.
From the West
Travel I-64 east to Exit 177, take I-295 east to Exit 38-B, turn right and take Meadowbridge Road to Carolina Ave., turn left. Gate 7 followed by Gate 6 will be on your right
